Podcast | Ukraine Re-archetypes as a Giant Inside Donald’s Mind
One of our first encounters with the internet today was to see Donald’s tweet — or untruth. And the experience all of us had when we saw that untruth is the experience that every MAGA cult member had the moment they became a member of the cult. They probably didn’t notice that time when they read something or heard something of Donald’s that they just agreed with a million percent. And that turned them from a complete sceptic — and in many cases, many MAGAdians hated Donald, absolutely hated him, which is the case in most cults.
All of us collectively this morning had that experience. But also, I hope all of us secretly smiled and thought of all the people we’ve been speaking to, preaching to, explaining to since March — certainly in my case, early March 2022. Everything Donald was saying was in the tea leaves, the data. This is what the data said within a week of the full-scale invasion. And it’s interesting — he referenced that a normal army, a serious army, would have disposed of this within a week. Everything else has unfurled from that experience.
Many of us have spent many hours of our lives trying to not sound crazy and explain to normal civilians who live in the real world, who aren’t focused on oil refineries or land swaps and just pick up what they pick up from the news. And then to hear Donald speak like us — and here I speak for most people who listen to Volya Radio and have been watching and participating and experiencing this war through radio and doing what we can through the information space — to hear a US president, any US president, speak in these terms, we definitely deserve, and I’m sure many of us did have, a smile. No one overreacted. Everyone expects it to be rolled back in a day or two.
We knew that America was out in terms of free arms deliveries. But this is what Ukraine has been playing for, for months. And Zelensky was perhaps one of the first people to see with complete clarity, from perhaps September 2024 onwards, that the very best we could hope for was that Donald would just sell arms to Ukraine. Thankfully, Germany is opening up the wallet, everyone is opening up their wallets, and everyone is sensing how Ukraine is going to be our security guarantor — and therefore we’d better keep it on side.
Let’s just enjoy this moment for what it is. But I did want to make that observation: this is how you get inducted into a cult, and into what I call the Disinfolklore galaxy. When you suddenly start agreeing with the cult leader like this. On the other end, you could argue he’s joined our cult. He’s clearly been listening — or whoever wrote this was listening — has been listening to all your radio. They’re finally seeing what we’ve been seeing. We’ve been watching the refineries go up over the past couple of weeks. We’ve been watching what’s going on around Pokrovsk, up in Sumy, around Kupiansk. We’re watching the radars being taken out in Crimea — at a granularity that clearly the people advising Donald are looking at. All of that has contributed to this huge volte-face in his mind.
Perhaps he is saying all of this because it is new in that world. It’s novel, and he loves that. He’s great at innovating and leading ideas and giving lines to people, which is essentially what his tweets do. They’re talking points and thinking points for the mainstream and for people. I think that is that for me. I’m very pleased about all of it. I’m not expecting anything else out of it.
Quickly moving on to what matters. On the battlefield: absolutely nothing has changed. What I have been looking for since the beginning of March 2022 — and it’s taken a while to gather the vocabulary, and some of you have been along this journey — is the re-archetyping of the identity of Ukraine inside the minds of humanity.
As previously discussed, for me this goes back — and I want people to understand from all of my work — the primary purpose goes back to 4,100 BCE, when the first Indo-European language speakers and their culture and religion, out of which emanate all of our languages, culture and Indo-European religions today, first emerged in Mykolaivka, in Zaporizhzhia. I previously said it was Kherson, but I’ve actually found the type site. Anyway, going all the way up to the present day — 6,000 years.
In the context of the short durée of the war, all of my work, everything I’ve written — the millions of words — and all of the words I’ve spoken, their primary purpose has been to try and change the archetypal identity in people’s minds: that Ukraine is a superpower. I first tweeted about this around the 8th of March 2022, when it became clear to me what was going on on the battlefield.
I’m not concerned with discharge petitions, Congress, money coming from America, what America can do. That isn’t where the focus of my work is. What is immanent today — the mana, the energy in that tweet — was all about Ukraine being a superpower. And that, for me, is the great victory, because it’s so far outside most normal people’s minds.
