The 2025 Own Goal: Turkiye Replaces America

Duncey Putin, for reasons outlined in my below post, invoked the Disinfolklore character “Istanbul Peace Talks.”

By accident Duncey Putin’s desperate tactic to escape Europe’s ultimatum last week by invoking “Istanbul Peace Talks” has enabled Turkiye (Russia’s centuries old enemy — after Russia lost the first Crimean War, Turkiye got Russia-occupied Kars as its prize) to replace America.

Another own goal for America and Duncey Putin. And a win for Ukraine.

The perennial character backfired. Putin invoked “Istanbul Peace Talks” to escape a European ultimatum, but in doing so inadvertently positioned Turkiye — protector of Ukraine’s indigenous Tatar people — as the peace negotiations sponsor, displacing a compromised America.

The joke of course is on the Russians. They’ve destroyed their state — for a troll.
