Why This Case Study Matters
“Little Green Men” is where the author’s analytical framework was forged. Standing on a bridge in eastern Ukraine, working as a diplomat whose job was to establish facts about Russian-caused security incidents, the author recognised that the folkloristic framing was not accidental — it was the Disinfolklore itself. The cute names were the weapon.
This founding insight — that contemporary propaganda operates through the same archetypal structures as folklore — became the basis for the entire Twelve Tools framework.
