Kvartal 95: Counter-Spectacle
Joke is definitely on the Ruschists. Much of the income from the production company President Z, his wife and fellow artists and school friends built - Kvartal 75 - came from selling TV content to Russian consumers. Now, as Ruschists watch the spectacle of their entire governance system implode, Ruschists, for free, get to consume Studio Kvartal 75’s masterpiece.
Moral of this story: Don’t go to war with an artistic genius.

The supreme irony of counter-spectacle. Zelenskyy’s production company Kvartal 95 once sold entertainment to Russian consumers. Now those same consumers watch, free of charge, the greatest spectacle Kvartal 95 ever produced: the implosion of the Russian governance system itself. The “moral of this story” — “Don’t go to war with an artistic genius” — captures how artistic mastery can transform a nation’s defence into counter-spectacle that turns the aggressor’s own tools against them.
