Those Ukrainians who remained behind in Russia-occupied Ukraine were subjected to unrelenting Disinfolklore which convinced Ukrainians inside the occupation that they were Russian, that Ukrainians across the river wanted to kill them, and that their captors were their liberators.

Three inversions: (1) you are not Ukrainian, you are Russian; (2) your fellow Ukrainians are your enemies; (3) your captors are your saviours. The victim’s identity has been overwritten. This is stealth genocide’s deepest mechanism — not killing the body, but killing the identity.
