Anti-Wokeness and Sympathetic Magic

George Floyd’s Murder, Anti-Wokeness Archetyping, Anti-Ukraine Positioning and the Jurisprudence of Sympathetic Magic.

Pro-Ukraineness was hung on the Architecture of Anti-Wokeness as Russian and MAGA Disinfolklore archetyped Ukraine as “Woke,” “Weak,” and associated Ukraine with the far-right’s discriminatory archetype of femininity. Ukraine is successfully upending these archetypal identities by modelling true strength.

We’ll connect these dots with a continuation of our exploration of how the Jurisprudence of Sympathetic Magic (specifically the Laws of Contagion and the Laws of Association/Similarity/Difference) can help us better parse Russian and all forms of Disinfolklore.

This Twitter-only formulation reveals a War Magic mechanism that connects domestic culture wars to geopolitics: pro-Ukraine sentiment was deliberately archetyped as “woke” using the Law of Association, hanging support for Ukraine on the same symbolic architecture used to discredit racial justice after George Floyd’s murder. The aim was to make supporting Ukraine feel effeminate and weak. Ukraine’s response — modelling true strength through action — is itself a counter-War Magic that upends the imposed archetype.
