Most of the literature on the laws of sympathetic magic is pre-MAGA. There’s a seminal text from 2019, but it’s not even referencing misinformation and disinformation. So that’s what I’m doing. That’s my innovation.

The explicit statement of the scholarly gap that Disinfolklore fills. Cultural Psychology’s Laws of Sympathetic Magic have been studied for over a century — Frazer (1890), Mauss (1902), Rozin & Nemeroff (2019) — but no one applied them to information warfare, misinformation, or disinformation. The entire post-2016 era of MAGA, Russian hybrid warfare, and algorithmic amplification happened AFTER the theoretical framework was established. The author is the first to bridge that gap.
