Destroyed Their State for a Troll

Although preposterous on almost every level, Putin’s archetypal Disinfolklore story which he has repeated oodles of times serves as a casus belli that has led to maiming and deaths of over one million Russian soldiers. The Russian soldiers who participated in the unlawful invasion of Ukraine believed so deeply in the truth of such stories that they were willing to sacrifice their lives on the altar of such trolls. This is how powerful an Information Galaxy can become. The joke of course is on the Russians. They’ve destroyed their state — for a troll.

“Destroyed their state for a troll” is the single most compressed paradox statement in the entire corpus. The more powerful the Information Galaxy becomes, the more destructive its consequences for its own creators. One million casualties for a fairy tale that was “preposterous on almost every level” yet believed in by everyone from Putin to the lowest conscript.
