The Full Stock Character Catalogue

I call such stories as that recounted here by Putin “Archetypal Disinfolklore” because immanent in them are these same archetypes that appear in millions of other stories inside the Russian Information Galaxy, with slight variations in monikers, settings, and circumstances. “Neo-Nazis,” “bunch of Junkies,” “hostages,” “Ultra-Nationalists,” “human shields,” “children, wives and elders,” and Good Soldiers (“servicemen”) are the staple stock characters of Russian Disinfolklore about Ukraine. Any time you see these characters being mentioned, in any context, be mindful, someone may be, even unknowingly, trying to wrap you up inside a Disinfolklore Galaxy designed by a linguistics graduate now working for Russia’s ministry of defence as a Military-Blogger, Podcaster, or YouTuber.
