The Self-Poisoning of Disinfolklore

The Information Galaxy which Russia created inside its military occupation in Ukraine, and which was then extended to encompass all of Russia is so powerful (as in the case of MAGA or anti-vaccine Information Galaxies) that people are willing to go to their deaths over entirely made-up memes which even the authors of the memes themselves come to believe.

In the case of Putin’s appeal to Ukrainian servicemen, Russian propaganda theorists invented the story “Ukrainian neo-Nazis plot to take forty-two million Ukrainians hostage. So they trick Ukrainians into electing a Jewish president.” Then Putin and other authority figures repeat this item of Disinfolklore again and again for years on end. It’s immanent in millions of retellings by Putin to world leaders in meetings, on the telephone, by talking heads on TV.
