If you own X and Facebook then you can convince at scale that we are NOT living in a Disinfolklore universe now. Alas, we are though. The signs are everywhere, once you get your eye in. And that is my job: to get your eye in, so you can see what is being done.

This is the central metaphor of Tool 12. “Getting your eye in” comes from cricket — the period at the start of a batting innings when you adjust to the light, the pitch, the bowler’s pace. Once your eye is in, you see what was previously invisible. The same perceptual shift applies to Disinfolklore: once you learn to see the archetypes, the Mana, and the Spectacle, the signs are everywhere.
