Manawydan (Wales)

Manawydan fab Llŷr is the Welsh cognate of Irish Manannán — both are sons of Llŷr/Lir (the sea). In the Mabinogion, Manawydan is paired with Bran (the sacrificed twin), just as Manu is paired with Yama.

The Welsh manifestation confirms the pattern across Celtic languages: Manawydan/Bran in Welsh parallels Manannán/Bran in Irish. The twin-pair structure (M-N named survivor + sacrificed twin) is the Trito Myth’s foundational pattern. Niece Eva Rose’s explanation of the Mabinogion was one of the three origin moments of Finding Manuland.
