When you discover that our word for Drama and Dream are connected, on the level of sound, signifier and meaning, to the contemporary German word Traum, the further connection between Freud’s seminal On the Interpretation of Dreams and Trauma is illuminated. All four words sit inside the Tr- cryptotype — the reversed form of the Rg/Rt governance-truth system.
Then notice this: Donald Trump’s Bavarian grandfather who migrated to America was born Friedrich Trumpf. Just as two of the three cryptotypic semantic signalling systems are immanent in Donald Trump’s own name — D-N- (in Don) and Tr- (the reversal of Rt) — the Rt/Rg cryptotype is immanent in both of his migrant grandfather’s birth names: Friedrich (Rt/Rg) and Trumpf (Rt/Rg).
This is not a claim that Donald Trump does anything in particular with the cryptotype, or that his Bavarian grandfather intended to migrate carrying it. The cryptotype is structural inheritance. It operates through any speaker of an Indo-European language, whether they know it or not.
But the cryptotype’s presence in his name and the connection from Drama to Dream to Traum to Trauma — via the same Tr- reversal that gives us Troll, Trick, and Trauma — is empirically there. Every time Trump’s emotion-moving theatre activates the audience, the Tr- cryptotype is doing structural work that the audience does not see and Trump himself almost certainly does not understand.
This is also why the Spectacle mechanism in the Negative Chain is now better named Drama: not the Debord-influenced Spectacle as a wall of fog (which the Spectacle section continues to analyse), but Drama as the form of action that operates through the Tr- cryptotype — the same cryptotype that connects performance to dream to wound. War Magic is, at its deepest level, the production of trauma through drama.
