What Is a Disinfolklore Galaxy? How Narrative Ecosystems Trap Entire Populations

A Disinfolklore Galaxy is a closed-loop narrative ecosystem — a self-sustaining system of stories, characters, and emotional patterns that enmeshes an entire community. Once inside a Galaxy, every new piece of information is interpreted through the Galaxy’s archetypal logic. Contradictory evidence is rejected, absorbed, or reinterpreted to confirm the Galaxy’s premises.

The Definition

Disinfolklore doesn’t just look at individual instances of storytelling, it also focusses on the system-wide impact on whole communities being enmeshed in what I call Disinfolklore Galaxies. The cumulative impact on humanity is to create what I now call the Disinfolklore Universe.

A single lie can be debunked. A Galaxy cannot. When millions of people share the same set of archetypes, characters, and emotional responses, they create a self-reinforcing reality-distortion field. New “evidence” is generated from within the Galaxy faster than external fact-checkers can respond.

The Known Galaxies

Now that we have the Russian state and MAGA promoting information manipulation galaxies characterised by the same policy platforms, our entire order risks being enmeshed in what I call a Disinfolklore Universe, wrought of multiple concatenating Disinfolklore Galaxies.

The framework identifies several major Disinfolklore Galaxies:

  • Russian Disinfolklore Galaxy — the original and most developed: “Russia is invincible, indispensable, and has the right to determine its neighbours’ destinies”
  • MAGA Galaxy — Druidey Don as Shaman-Trickster, archetyping himself as protector against folkloristic threats
  • Brexit Galaxy — the Great Migration Troll: “Small Boat People” as the Three Billy-Goats threatening England’s bridge
  • CCP Galaxy — anti-Western narrative warfare at scale
  • Anti-vax Galaxy — closed-loop medical Disinfolklore creating data-resistant archetypes about health

Each Galaxy is self-sustaining. The Russian Galaxy does not depend on the MAGA Galaxy to function, and vice versa. But when they align — when the same policy platforms, the same archetypal logic, and the same emotional patterns reinforce each other — they concatenate into something far more dangerous.

Galaxy vs Universe

Today, our whole world risks ending up enveloped inside a Disinfolklore Universe, where multiple provincial Disinfolklore Galaxies like MAGA, Russian or anti-vax or Brexit or Chinese Communist Party compete to eradicate truth altogether.

A Galaxy is a single narrative ecosystem (MAGA, Russian, Brexit). The Disinfolklore Universe is what forms when multiple Galaxies concatenate — when they share characters, reinforce each other’s archetypes, and create a unified reality-distortion field.

Disinfolklore Universe is not a metaphor. It’s where we’re living right now.

How Galaxies Self-Sustain: The Triple Helix

What we have is millions of Disinfolklore story cycles like that coiled up, wrapped around each other like triple infinite, triple double helixes in our information space surrounding us so that our entire mode of perceiving reality, which initially we gain through our parents and through reading folk tales and fairy tales to having them read to us as small children, this is substituted.

Each Galaxy sustains itself through mutating story cycles with three surfaces:

  1. Staged provocations — events engineered to generate material for the Galaxy
  2. Amplification — authorities and media repeating the Galaxy’s archetypes
  3. Our reactions — the way our engagement with the “news” keeps the Galaxy spinning

The triple helix is self-sustaining because our reactions generate new material for the Galaxy, which generates new provocations, which generate new amplification. Breaking the cycle requires becoming conscious of the mechanism. See Tool 2: Troll Radars.

The Propagation Apparatus

Russian troll farms operate according to this distinction between Vectors and Meanings. Each morning, that day’s micro “Meanings” are distributed among the troll farm operators. Then, the trolls are assigned tasks to create or propagate vectors to implant these micro Meanings in the minds of whichever audience they’re responsible for targeting.

Galaxies do not emerge spontaneously. They are manufactured by a Disinfolklore Propagation Apparatus — an industrial system for producing and distributing narrative at scale. The Russian apparatus includes troll farms, state media, diplomatic messaging, and a network of “Putin-understanders” who Westsplain Russian positions to fellow Westerners.

If you own X and Facebook then you can convince at scale that we are NOT living in a Disinfolklore universe now. Alas, though we are. The signs are everywhere, once you get your eye in.

When those who control the means of distributing memes can archetype at industrial scale, the Galaxy becomes the information environment itself.

How to Escape a Galaxy

They believed so deeply in the truthiness of such Disinfolklore that they were willing to sacrifice their lives on the altar of such a troll. This is how powerful a Disinfolklore Galaxy can become.
