Finding Manuland · Theme 2 of 3

Expanding Mental Models

Decolonizing prehistory by recentering ancient Ukraine as the homeland of Indo-European languages and culture

For two hundred years, we have been indoctrinated by the idea that our culture originates in ancient Greece and Rome. The 2015 archaeogenetics revolution proved otherwise: the homeland of all Indo-European languages, mythology, and religion was in the river valleys of eastern Ukraine. Finding Manuland decolonizes our mental models by creating a presence where there is an absence.

This theme traces the evidence — from ancient DNA to burial customs to the Amarna Letters — and confronts the Eurasianist narratives that seek to erase Ukraine from the story of our common origins.
