Finding Manuland · Theme 3 of 3

Journeying

From a shed in Maing to the steppes of Ukraine — the physical and mental journeys behind Finding Manuland

Finding Manuland is held together by physical journeys across geographical space and mental journeys across time. It began with a sign on the side of a shed in Maing, France — and spiralled into a seven-year investigation spanning Ireland to India, from the Dnipro cromlech to Mount Hazzi, from a Buddhist initiation in Mongolia to the source of the Euphrates.

This theme follows the origin story, the obsessive quest, the personal narrative, and the expanding circle of discovery that connects an Irish diplomat’s retirement to the deepest roots of Indo-European civilisation.
